Sand Castle Inn and Suites

While Sand Castle Inn and Suites is not as fancy as other hotels in the area, their rates are much lower. There is a fancy hotel across the street that is beautiful yet it is also three times the nightly rate. The Sand Castle Inn is clean, affordable and has super nice staff. I can walk across the street and have my toes in the sand in minutes.

I was very lucky to find this place. Clean rooms. Rooms need a tiny bit of maintenance from customers banging the walls with chairs, but that is to be expected anywhere. Kino helped me, super good guy. I just reserved another room and Jackie the manager is excellent. The inn is Directly in the center of town. Walk a block across the street and you are dipping your toes in the Ocean. You can walk thru the entire town, no vehicle needed. Great price, and great management. I highly recommend this establishment. Oh, Air conditioning is not needed. You have a on shore breeze that blows most all day. There are fans suppied and ceiling fans. I have never needed AC in my room.

Friendly and professional staff. Great view from the second floor. Room was just OK although very spacious. Bed was comfortable. Curtains were cheap and didn't close all the way. No towel racks. No instructions for TV. No hair dryer. Walls are paper thin and I heard everything going on next door. Room did not look "finished" - blown insulation around the cracks, bad paint job. No USB ports, no ice machine on premises, no ice trays in freezer (in fact, the freezer badly needed defrosting). Some plastic silverware would have been nice. Only one coffee cup. Rug was a tripping hazard. I have stayed here three or four times and I can tell that they're trying to "upgrade" --but like a lot of little motels these days, there is zero ambience, no real "extras," old cheap furniture, etc. Also, I simply don't understand why they charge for parking. They should build this cost into the price and it would still be reasonable. This motel is soon to become "contactless" which means they send you a code and charge everything to your credit card without ever seeing you. I will miss the feeling of "checking in" and knowing someone is watching out for us guests. It's a good value but if there were alternatives, I'd be looking at that.

Horrific check in process. I emailed three times asking if I could check in half an hour early. No response. No one at front desk when I tried to check in at 3:30. Went to room, code wouldn't work. Had to track down a lovely woman, a maid, who helped me open the room. Then an email, please come to front desk so we can use your credit card for security purposes. I go the front desk, still no one there. I go back to my room, door code doesn't work. And it goes on. Also, unless you're standing, and very tall, there is no ocean view. Expedia, by the way, was absolutely no help whatsoever. What else is new?
